Not giving up

No, I have not lost interest in blogging. I have however been occupied with trying to get more work for the next 2 months. My desperation has, thankfully, secured me some extra work for September and November, which is wonderful and means that December won't be as tough as I have been anticipating.

Since my dream has always been to perform more, I am happy to say that last night I played my first solo gig. While I have been asked in the past to play by myself, I have always found it quite odd and roped someone else into playing with me. But it went really well and I am so pleased that it also felt comfortable.

This leads me to one of the things that I have been doing, which is getting backing tracks together so that I can perform as background music at restaurants. I am really excited about this prospect as I have come to realise that there really is a lot of scope for this kind of performance and it's a great way to build your confidence.

I have also found it difficult in the past, and even now, to find a band that I can work with consistently. There are so many reason's for this, that I won't go into now. But I have finally come to the point where I realise that I can't depend on others for this kind of thing. If I put myself out there, then I know that other work will come, but for now I need to just light the fire-cracker and get on with it.
