Mini things

Although there is nothing like the real thing, I have always wanted a mini model saxophone. A few years ago I finally found one while travelling in England with one of my friends. I found it in one of the three music shops where we ended up spending three whole days trying out many recorders, clarinets and saxophones. We also tried out many mouthpieces, one of which I bought and will discuss in a future blog.

The two most significant things that I learnt on those days are:

1. South Africa is seriously missing out on shops like The Early Music Shop http://www.earlymusicshop.com/More/EarlyMusicShopLondon.aspx; Howarth of London http://www.howarth.uk.com/ and Sax.co.uk http://www.sax.co.uk/denmarkst.html. There is so much choice in them!

2. I have a slight obsession with collecting music paraphernalia...and I'm OK with that!

Mini-model saxophone

Reed protector

Quaver punch

Saxophone pendant and brooch

Musical pencils of course!

Lanyard from this years SBNYJF in Grahamstown

Mini notepad that my boss gave each of us for Christmas last year.

A paper clip from my saxophone Matric student - from Typo, my new favourite shop
